ITV1 Official sponsors of the World Cup, Yahoo! wanted a TV programme which reflected both their involvement in the tournament and also their support of grass-roots football fans. Our Solution was a two-part series involving six fanatical England supporters; all ready and willing to prove themselves to be ‘England’s no.1 fan.’ Each fan had the chance to ‘pitch’ their case as ‘England’s no. 1 fan’ to a television audience; the winner receiving those all-important tickets to EVERY England game in Japan – including accommodation and travel. Capturing the passion and tension of a football match it was a show of two-halves, culminating in a live finale that brought the phone and email results direct to the contestants. Presented by: TESS DALY of SM:TV fame and TERRY ALDERTON known for his comic stand-up and London’s Burning, with special guest presenter TERRY VENABLES The series aired on prime time ITV1 pulling an audience of over two million viewers and received extensive national media coverage.
