‘STATIC’ ANTI SET-TOP BOX FRAUD Sky, NTL and Telewest have joined forces to combat the issue of illegal set-top boxes by commissioning a promotional film that graphically illustrates the risks of purchasing an illegal set top box. Jointly funded by all three digital providers, Flextech commissioned the promo from director Mark Hunter at Flawless Media. Shot on 35mm the stylised sets and lighting, inspired by the photography of Gregory Crewdson, show a sequence of deserted rooms containing static filled TV’s. With Sound Design and flame fx provided by Blue, the voiceover of Bernard Hill lends extra gravitas to a promo that leaves the audience in no doubt as to the repercussions of set-top box fraud. The promo’s initial TX date is scheduled for the New Year and will run indefinitely across all three platforms and on all major channels including premier sports and movie channels.
